Description

This simple air fryer whole chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Perfect for family dinners and leftovers.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole chicken (about 3 to 4 lbs)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary

Instructions

  1. Remove the giblets from the chicken cavity.
  2. Pat the entire chicken dry, inside and out, using paper towels.
  3. Mix together the salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, and rosemary in a small bowl.
  4. Rub the olive oil all over the exterior of the chicken.
  5. Sprinkle the seasoning rub generously over the chicken, coating the back and legs well.
  6. Place the seasoned chicken breast-side up in your air fryer basket.
  7. Set your air fryer to 360°F (180°C) and cook for 40 minutes.
  8. Flip the chicken over using tongs after 40 minutes.
  9. Increase the temperature to 380°F (195°C) and cook for another 15 to 25 minutes.
  10. Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.

Notes

Pat the chicken very dry for the best crisp skin. Use a meat thermometer to check the thigh, not just the breast.
