- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for drizzling
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, beat the eggs. In another bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Dip each chicken breast into the egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Place the chicken on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and top with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil and serve.
Notes
For a crispier texture, broil the chicken for a few minutes after baking. You can substitute the marinara sauce with your favorite tomato sauce or pesto for a twist.
