- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (for chicken coating)
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying (about 4 cups)
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 4 tablespoons honey butter
- 12 pickle slices
- Hot sauce (optional)
- Fresh chives for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken marinade: Place chicken pieces in a bowl, cover with buttermilk, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Make the waffle batter: Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Combine wet ingredients and mix with dry ingredients until just combined.
- Whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form and fold into the batter.
- Cook mini waffles until golden brown in a preheated waffle maker.
- Prepare the chicken coating by mixing flour and seasonings in a separate bowl.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a pot.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk, dredge in flour mixture, and fry in batches until golden brown and cooked through.
- Assemble sliders: Spread honey butter on waffles, add fried chicken, drizzle with maple syrup, and top with a pickle slice.
- Garnish with fresh chives and serve immediately.
