Description

Delicious Greek chicken burgers infused with feta, lemon, and herbs, topped with fresh tzatziki sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Chicken (93% lean for best results)
  • 1/2 cup Feta Cheese (can substitute with goat cheese or omit for dairy-free)
  • 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley (or dill)
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano (fresh works if available)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper (freshly ground)
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Zest
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (or almond flour for gluten-free)
  • 1 large Egg (for binding)
  • 1 cup Tzatziki Sauce (fresh or store-bought)
  • 2 cups Fresh Vegetables (lettuce, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers)
  • 4 pieces Buns or Pita (whole grain or gluten-free)

Instructions

  1. Put ground chicken in a bowl.
  2. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Crumble in the feta cheese.
  4. Add breadcrumbs and the egg. Mix gently until just combined, do not overwork the meat.
  5. Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about 3/4 inch thick, making a small dip in the center of each patty.
  6. Cook using your preferred method: pan-fry, grill, or bake.
  7. Let patties rest for 3 minutes after cooking.
  8. Lightly toast buns or pita, spread tzatziki on top and bottom, add the patty, and top with lettuce, tomato, and cucumber.
  9. Serve warm with extra tzatziki and lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

For added freshness, serve with a simple salad or roasted potatoes. Freeze cooked patties for up to 3 months.
