Description

Crispy chicken wings coated in a sticky honey garlic sauce that perfectly balances sweet and savory flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, split into drumettes and flats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and place a wire cooling rack on top. Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Add the dried chicken wings to the flour mixture and toss until evenly coated.
  3. Drizzle the vegetable oil over the coated wings and toss again to ensure even distribution. Place the coated wings on the wire rack and bake for 25 minutes, flip and bake for another 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  4. While the wings are baking, prepare the honey garlic sauce. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, brown sugar, fresh ginger, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Add this to the simmering sauce, whisking continuously until thickened, about 1-2 minutes. Stir in the butter until melted.
  6. Once the wings are crispy and golden, remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Transfer the wings to a bowl and pour the warm sauce over, tossing gently to coat.
  7. Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crispy wings, ensure they are dried properly before baking. Prepare the sauce while wings are baking, but combine just before serving for the best texture.
