Description

Quick and delicious chicken thighs in a flavorful soy garlic sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 3 tbsp potato starch
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp neutral oil for pan frying
  • 8 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 stalks green onion (green and white parts separated)
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock (or water & chicken bouillon)
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • Green onion (green part, for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the sauce ingredients: chicken stock, honey, rice vinegar, dark soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside.
  2. Dry the chicken thighs with a paper towel. Mix the potato starch, flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper on a plate. Coat both sides of the chicken with this mixture.
  3. Heat neutral oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken thighs and fry until golden brown, about 7 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  4. Add minced garlic, white parts of green onion, and red chili flakes to the same pan. Sauté for about 3 minutes until the garlic is golden brown.
  5. Pour the sauce into the pan and cook for 1 minute or until thickened.
  6. Add the chicken back to the pan, cooking for another 5 minutes to coat in sauce and ensure it’s cooked through.
  7. Serve warm with vegetables and rice, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Ensure oil is hot to create a crispy exterior. Adjust garlic and chili flakes to taste.
