- 500g boneless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk (or ½ cup yogurt + ½ cup water)
- 1 egg
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- Oil for frying
- Optional: pinch of cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Combine buttermilk and egg in a bowl. Add chicken pieces and let them marinate for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge each chicken piece in the flour mixture and press to coat evenly.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep pan.
- Fry chicken pieces in batches for 4-5 minutes until golden and fully cooked.
- Remove chicken and drain on a rack or paper towels before serving.
Notes
For extra crunch, double-dip the chicken in the egg and flour mixture. Let the chicken rest before frying, and avoid overcrowding the pan.
