A simple crockpot whole chicken that cooks itself and tastes great, perfect for easy, hands-off cooking.
Ingredients

- 1 whole chicken (about 4–5 pounds)
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 lemon (halved)
- Fresh herbs (such as thyme or rosemary)
- 1 cup chicken broth (optional)
Instructions
- Pat the chicken dry and season it generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- Place the lemon halves and fresh herbs inside the cavity of the chicken.
- If using, pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the crockpot.
- Place the seasoned chicken in the crockpot, breast side up.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- Once cooked, carefully remove the chicken from the crockpot and let it rest for a few minutes before carving.
Notes
Pat the chicken dry for better seasoning adherence and use a meat thermometer to ensure proper doneness.
