Description

Enjoy tender chicken in a smooth, savory ranch sauce that comes together in just 30 minutes.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 1 to 1.2 lb)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet (1 oz) dry ranch seasoning mix, or 2 tablespoons
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream (or 1/2 cup cream + 1/4 cup milk)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or Parmesan (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add chicken and cook 5–6 minutes per side until golden, then remove to a plate.
  4. Lower heat to medium. If using fresh garlic, add it to the pan and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Add chicken broth to the pan and scrape any brown bits.
  6. Stir in cream cheese until it melts and mixes with the broth.
  7. Add heavy cream and ranch seasoning. Stir until smooth and simmer for 3–4 minutes to thicken.
  8. If using, stir in shredded cheese until melted.
  9. Return chicken to the pan, spoon sauce over it, cover, and cook for 5–7 minutes until chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
  10. Garnish with parsley and serve.

Notes

Pound chicken to an even thickness for even cooking. Use a meat thermometer for doneness.
