Description

A delicious fusion of smash burgers and tacos, featuring crispy ground chicken patties nestled in warm tortillas with fresh toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) ground chicken (preferably thigh meat for juiciness)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 8 small flour or corn tortillas (6-inch size)
  • 8 slices American or cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • ½ cup diced red onion
  • ½ cup pickled jalapeños (optional)
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon pickle relish
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Special Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Season the Ground Chicken: In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Sprinkle over the ground chicken and mix gently.
  3. Portion the Chicken: Divide the chicken into 8 equal portions, rolling each into a loose ball.
  4. Heat Your Cooking Surface: Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat for 5 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon of oil.
  5. Smash and Cook the First Side: Place 2-3 chicken balls on the hot surface, cover with parchment and smash down. Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Flip and Add Cheese: Flip patties, place cheese on top and cook for another 2-3 minutes until melted.
  7. Warm the Tortillas: Warm tortillas on the griddle for 30 seconds per side.
  8. Assemble Your Tacos: Spread special sauce on each tortilla, add a chicken patty, and top with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, and cilantro.
  9. Serve Immediately: Fold tortillas and enjoy while hot.

Notes

For best results, avoid flipping the patties too early and don’t overcrowd the pan.
