- For the Honey Mustard Sauce (Optional):
- 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken by butterflying or pounding to 1/4-inch thickness. Season with salt and pepper.
- Create the filling with ham and Swiss cheese on each piece of chicken.
- Set up a breading station with seasoned flour, beaten eggs, and panko breadcrumbs mixed with spices.
- Bread the chicken by dredging in flour, dipping in eggs, and coating with breadcrumbs.
- Cook the chicken in heated oil for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Prepare the buns by buttering and toasting in the skillet.
- Make the optional honey mustard sauce by whisking ingredients together.
- Assemble the sandwiches with mustard, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, and the crispy chicken.
Notes
For a healthier version, consider baking the breaded chicken instead of frying. You can also try using different cheeses or meats for variation.
