Description

Juicy, flavorful chicken drumsticks marinated and grilled to perfection for a smoky, sweet, and tangy BBQ experience.


Ingredients

  • 3 pounds chicken drumsticks (1216 pieces)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken drumsticks dry, score them, and season with salt and pepper; drizzle with olive oil.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together all marinade ingredients until smooth.
  3. Place drumsticks in a resealable bag, pour marinade over, seal, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  4. Preheat grill to medium heat and remove drumsticks to bring to room temperature.
  5. In a saucepan, combine barbecue sauce, honey, and butter over low heat until smooth.
  6. Remove drumsticks from marinade and grill on the cooler side for 15 mins, turning halfway.
  7. Move to hotter side of the grill for 10-15 mins, turning regularly until cooked through.
  8. Brush on BBQ glaze during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  9. Let drumsticks rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Perfect for gatherings and can be prepared in advance. Leftovers can be stored and reheated.
