- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (6–8 oz each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce (plus extra for serving)
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, and cayenne pepper.
- Drizzle olive oil over the chicken and season with salt, pepper, and the BBQ seasoning blend.
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Cook the chicken for 7 minutes, flip, and cook for another 5-8 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- While cooking, whisk together barbecue sauce, honey, and apple cider vinegar.
- Brush the chicken with BBQ glaze during the last 2 minutes of cooking.
- Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For best results, use a meat thermometer and ensure chicken is of even thickness. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
